Marawi City: On the War’s End
Stories of faith, survival, and the quiet courage of a people rebuilding dignity after the guns fell silent The unfolding stories of people who stood against extremism were not fought with weapons but with unwavering faith and determination — a defense of the most precious right: the freedom to simply exist. For more than five months of intense armed conflict, lives were lost, homes were shattered, and hundreds of thousands were forced to flee.
Marawi became a testament to the nation’s resolve to protect the region from the spread of violent extremism. Though half of the city now lies in ruins, the destruction cannot define the spirit of the people. The people of Marawi carry a collective determination to rise again — to reclaim pride, rebuild homes, and restore the dignity taken during months of devastation.
